Come one, come all! Are you interested in going for an invigorating run or walk during your conference experience? If so, consider participating in the National Monitoring Conference’s Fluid 5K Fun Run/Walk! We encourage everyone to get out and be active during the conference week!
Starting at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, March 12, the 5-kilometer run or walk takes participants on a route on the Fox River State Trail. You need not be a runner to participate. The entry fee is $30 and includes a run tee shirt (if pre-registered two weeks before the conference start). Registration onsite is allowed, but a tee shirt is not guaranteed. You may register for the 5K with your full conference registration, or just for the 5K if you need to pay on a separate invoice.

Ellie was one of the stalwarts of the volunteer monitoring movement and a prominent leader from its very beginnings. She was the editor and driving force behind The Volunteer Monitor from 1990 to 2010. During that time, this newsletter was the voice of volunteer monitoring; everyone relied on it for technical advice on monitoring, sustaining programs, training volunteers and many other topics. She was also instrumental in developing a national directory of volunteer environmental monitoring programs. Sadly, Ellie passed away in 2012 from ovarian cancer.
